
A recent arrival to St. Mary's County, Krystal joined St. Maries Musica in July 2010.
In addition to her role as music director for St. Maries Musica, Krystal Rickard
McCoy also serves as adjunct faculty for the College of Southern Maryland where
she teaches Music Appreciation and Voice lessons. Krystal is conductor of the
Southern Maryland ENCORE chorale and conductor of the Sanctuary Choir at
Hollywood United Methodist Church.
Krystal adjudicates at choral festivals and clinics in Maryland and
surrounding states. She presents at conferences and choral reading sessions and
has guest conducted honor choirs in Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. This
spring she will present a middle school reading session for the Maryland Music
Educations Association and conduct a middle school Honor Choir in Boston,
Massachusetts.
Krystal's vocal performance experience includes soprano roles in major choral
works such as Mozart's Requiem, Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Monteverdi's Gloria
and Faure's Requiem. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with a
minor in dance from Bucknell University. She continued her study at Westminster
Choir College where she graduated with a Master's Degree in Choral Conducting.
Krystal is currently in the dissertation stage of her doctoral work in Music
Education at Boston University. She is studying "Effective teaching as perceived
by adult choir participants."
